The White Mice

The White Mice are very proud of their lineage, they have a very distinct family tree, they have never been ‘wild mice’. No hedges nor hazelnuts, no burrows nor blackberries for them. They are proud to be domesticated mice… they like being homely.
Generations back they did have a branch of the family that broke away from tradition and decided to emigrate, to the wild, by jumping out of the nursery window. The white mice sometimes see their ancestors out of the window frolicking in the orchard.
Now the whole clan do like to stay in touch. They are very secretive about it and use the little hidden hole in the Wainscot, tucked away behind the chiffonier. The family regularly exchange gifts. Only the other day they received a scrummy hamper of hedgerow goodies and gave a china tea set in return. Both sides of the family were delighted. What is even more exciting is that recently the House mice were invited out to a garden party!
These House mice want for nothing and live lives of ease and refined elegance in comparison to their country cousins but all are content with their lots and wouldn't change places for all the cheese in the cheese barrel not even if it was stacked full of Gouda and Red Leicester.
As with all these vignettes there are a few secrets, if you care to look hard enough.
The light fitting is battery operated and removable
