Fruit Bat Tile
Whitby, is imaginative. He has been that way since he was a pup. To the rest of the world, he is a fruit bat, or a Pteropus to be precise. However, he has always liked the gothic idea of being a vampire bat, the persona is creepy and cool. He is currently trying to perfect his evil laugh but always ruins it by chuckling to himself at the end. He can't help it, it's just too deliciously wicked.
Whitby sees the world from both sides up, sometimes the sky is above him and sometimes below. He has discovered that the best way to decipher which way is truly up is to spit pips at people. Pips always head down, and people then always look up. It's a fool proof method and a great opportunity to practice the evil laugh.
This young, aspiring Nosferatu thinks that when he hangs motionless, he looks menacing and mysterious, but he has on occasion been mistaken for an old umbrella.
I think Whitby is much too hansom to be a vampire bat or indeed a tatty, old umbrella.
Whitby is a limited-edition piece, he bares my maker’s mark and is available in cold cast copper and bronze or hand painted or highlighted slate black.
