At long Last

There is a true story behind this wedding lantern. 
Years ago I was asked to sculpt a bride and groom mouse for a wedding cake. This gave me the idea to sculpt a wedding pair to go into production, which I duly did. The second bride was a little more fancy than the first and so the first bespoke bride was returned and the second bride married her bow on the wedding cake. 
The jilted little Lily bride remained with me in the studio and always took the place of the bridesmaid for the fancier bride and groom. 
Now the bride and groom have come to the end of their production run. 
I, somehow, found I had a last groom left. 
Obviously, he asked my bespoke Lily bride to marry him and she accepted. Her patience paid off and disproved the old wives tale that "always the bridesmaid, never the bride" .
I think she looked radiant. 
This lantern is the happy couple at their wedding breakfast.
The lace at the top was my  gift to this special Lily, it is from my wedding dress.
